A warming trend will bring metro Denver its first 90-degree day since last summer on Monday, under mostly blue skies amid sunshine with no rain, according to the National Weather Service. It’s been 272 days since temperatures in Denver topped 90 degrees, weather service records show. Last year, spring brought the first 90-degree day on May 11, and by June the temperatures had reached 90 degrees ten times.Higher temperatures favor the formation of ground-level ozone air pollution. The Colorado Department of Public Health and the Environment has issued an air quality alert effective through 4 p.m., urging residents to minimize driving in non-electric vehicles. The high temperature in Denver Monday afternoon will be 92 degrees, forecasters said. A light wind will blow at speeds mostly below 15 miles per hour. At night, the temperatures will decrease to 59 degrees, forecasters said.East of Denver on Colorado’s eastern plains, the temperature will hit 96 degrees in Wray, forec...Antisemitic flyer tossed onto lawn in Redondo Beach

A plastic baggie containing an antisemitic flyer was found on the lawn of a man in Redondo Beach Monday morning.Dr. Andrew Lesser was taking his trash out when he noticed the bag on the ground.“It’s just nauseating … It’s people who are unhappy with their own lives and they want to blame somebody else. Some other race, some religion, and they’re just sick people. But they can be dangerous,” Lesser said. Antisemitic flyers again distributed across Southern California The flyer found near the intersection of South Gertruda Avenue and Pearl Street was similar to those recently left in Redlands and Huntington Beach, although it was unclear if there was any connection.Lesser called Redondo Beach police to report the incident.CBD & Senior Health — Is CBD Oil OK For Senior Citizens?

CBD isn’t just “hip” with millennials. Interestingly, many senior citizens are now using CBD topicals on their hips!Recent surveys suggest at least 20 percent of Americans over 65 have used a CBD product in the past few years. That number continues to climb as more data comes out about CBD’s anti-inflammatory and anti-stress properties. There’s also a lot of positive “word of mouth” swirling around regarding CBD’s effectiveness for many age-related conditions like arthritis.Although the CBD business is booming in the senior care sector, does that mean this supplement is safe for grandpa and grandma? Are there any potential issues senior citizens should consider before trying a CBD product? Is CBD Oil Safe For Senior Patients? As long as CBD products meet high-quality standards for purity, they should be safe for most healthy senior citizens. However, there are concerns that CBD oil could adversely interact with many prescription medications. Since almost 90 percent of Americans over 6...Cheap Tricks for Bellrays

Cheap TrickCheap Trick (Epic)Cheap Tricks for Bellrays: Bob Vennum of rock & soulers the Bellrays told us about his love for Cheap Trick’s classic debut.Bob Vennum: I remember hearing Cheap Trick for the first time at a friend’s house. She played Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers and then In Color. Despite immediately wanting to go home and grab my guitar and figure out the cool chord progression to “I Want You to Want Me”, I remember thinking how wimpy it sounded next to “American Girl” or “Breakdown”. My immediate reaction was that it sounded like one of the local bands around that had put out their own record. (Epic)The next year they put out Live at Budakon and then I got it. I don’t think I put my guitar down for a month! It hit me so hard that this article could’ve easily been all about that record. By the mid ’90s I had been doing original music in local bands for almost 10 years. The rejection letters (and phone bills) from label submissions were piling up and ...San Jose: Late-night stabbing leaves man with life-threatening injuries

Published Fri, 22 Nov 2024 08:53:27 GMT
Eggplant on the grill is a summer favorite. A brush of olive oil, a sprinkle of salt and the fire of the grill are all that’s needed to transform firm, spongy eggplant wedges and planks into crispy-squidgy versions of themselves. But why stop there?Take it up a notch with a recipe inspired by Yotam Ottolenghi, the Israel-born British chef and cookbook author. In his recipe, he roasts wedges of eggplant doused in a chermoula-infused oil heady with North African spice, and then tops it with an herby bulgur salad and creamy yogurt for a beautiful and substantial vegetarian dish. The recipe below is a lighter, simplified adaptation. It focuses exclusively on the eggplant and garnishes it with an herbaceous gremolata studded with bits of preserved lemon. It’s bright and fresh, a lovely side dish that can be served warm or at room temperature.Ideally, choose long, narrow eggplants and cut them into narrow wedges. Alternatively, cut thick slices lengthwise from globe eggplants. ...Wish You Were Here: A trek through Portugal

DEAR TRAVEL TROUBLESHOOTER: We are taking a cruise next month from Miami. I booked an 11:30 a.m. return flight from Miami to Chicago on American Airlines.A few months before our cruise, American Airlines canceled our 11:30 a.m. flight and moved us to a 9 a.m. flight. We will still be on the ship at 9 a.m.Christopher Elliott, the Travel Troubleshooter I called the airline and asked for a flight later in the afternoon. An agent advised me that all flights were full and they could not move my party to any other flights, even out of Fort Lauderdale, Florida.I waited a few weeks and called again, hoping availability would open up, but it did not. An agent told me to cancel my tickets and that I would get a refund. So I did.I have had an email conversation spanning weeks with American Airlines. They only process refunds via email and give no phone option. They keep denying my refund. So, I asked for an extension on my ticket credit. American Airlines denied that, too. DEAR JOAN: A year ago my husband and I befriended a cat during our late evening walks. He looked well fed, and we thought he was from the neighborhood, but still felt we would like to know to whom he belongs. We left notes at several homes, posted on Nextdoor and finally found the owners. He had been missing for two years. They live five miles away and thought he had died, since his collar was found in a street.I bonded immediately with him and was quite tearful when they picked him up. The family kept in touch with us, so we could visit him whenever we wanted to. Initially we were told he was still shy and in a box under their bed. They have two other cats that he has not made peace with yet, and he has fought viciously with both a few times.I told her we would gladly take him if things do not work out. That was 10 months ago. The cat has been to the vet for medication for anxiety, but it has had no effect. I suggested all he probably needed was freedom and exercise. When we visited ...Latest news
